It's Essential

Lady Gaga’s former Central Park penthouse is now a $33K/month rental!

celeb-magnet penthouse, most recently rented by Lady Gaga, has returned to the market for $33,000/month. The apartment, located within 40 Central Park South, has been home at one point or another to not just Gaga, but also Lance Armstrong, Liza Minnelli, and Broadway impresario Michael Bennett.

What’s so appealing about the place? Privacy, for one: The listing says it has “no neighbors on any side,” which is surely attractive to those looking to avoid the paparazzi. It’s also fairly spacious; the duplex unit spans nearly 2,000 square feet, and comes with four terraces, all of which are also shielded from any neighborly intrusion.

Other perks include a formal dining room, a chef’s kitchen, a “gracious Hollywood staircase,” a huge master bathroom, and access to the building’s amenities (which are actually pretty standard—a concierge, fitness center, and the like).

Gaga began renting the place in 2013, and as the New York Post (which first reported the listing) notes, it can be seen in the recent documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two, which premiered on Netflix in September. She was renting it for $22,000/month; presumably, the cachet Gaga lends to the space—and the fact that some of her decorative touches, including rose-colored mirrors, remain in place—accounts for the $11,000 price jump.
